FAQ

Who is Shenandoah Residents Association (SRA)

The Shenandoah Residents Association (SRA) was formed from the Subdivision Indentures with St. Louis County as a not-for-profit Corporation of the State of Missouri.  The SRA is made up of volunteer subdivision owners to govern the subdivision to keep land values high and in good working order.

What are the Annual Assessment Dues

Annual Dues are assessed by the Shenandoah Residents Association (SRA) , fund the maintenance of the subdivision (insurance, streetlights, mowing, trees, etc.), and are due annually on July 1.

All delinquent accounts will be charged 8% annual interest plus $25.00 penalty per year.

The SRA has the legal authority to place liens against properties if the dues are not paid in a timely fashion.  All legal and administrative fees will be included in the lien and are to be paid by the delinquent homeowner.

The homeowner is responsible for notifying the SRA of change in ownership or mailing address and can do so by postal mail to P.O. Box 3821, Chesterfield, MO. 63006.

Common Ground

There are 57+ acres of beautiful Common Ground throughout the neigborhood.

Common ground is not an easement, it is zoned by St. Louis County and owned by the subdivision.

The SRA does mow some areas of Common Ground, and some residents assist in caring for areas near their homes.

Please keep grasses at least 4-6 inches high to help absorb and slow water run-off.   Should look like a meadow rather than a golf course.

Blocking access, planting, dumping, or building on Common Ground is prohibited.

Fences & Decks

Per the Indentures, any deck, fence, or large hedge should be approved by Chesterfield City Hall and/or St. Louis County.

No fence or wall shall be erected, placed, or altered on any lot nearer to any street than the minimum building setback line, within lot lines (not over easements or common ground), and all codes conformed to.

All fences and decks should be permitted appropriately, be constructed to code out of quality approved materials (ie. wood, vinyl, aluminum), and have a minium of 35% openings.

The permit process from the City of Chesterfield answers most questions, but Contact Us below to recieve an official review by the SRA of your project.

Walking Track

Shenandoah Subdivision owns the land and walking track adjacent to the elementary school and leases it to the Parkway School District.  Feel free to walk during non school hours - if not in use by the school.

Soil Conservation & Yard Waste

Please do not dump yard waste onto the common ground.  It is a violation of the City of Chesterfield ordinances to dump yard waste on common ground and causes soil erosion.  Soil Conservation efforts are underway for certain areas of the neighborhood subject to Erosion.

Honeysuckle

Japanese and bush honeysuckle are invasive vine/bushes that shade out existing native ground cover and contribute to soil erosion.  If you discover honeysuckle on your property or common ground near your home please remove it yourself or hire a contractor to do so.

See this Missouri Department of Conservation site for more information: https://mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/problem-plant-control/invasive-plants/bush-honeysuckles-control
